Butler’s comprehensive commitment to student success would not be complete without services to help you care for your health, both physical and mental.
Students and employees have access to a wide range of supportive services including confidential mental health counseling, wellness resources, and medical support for common health concerns.
Office visits are FREE for students and $20 for staff, which means
you only have to pay for the care you receive at student-friendly rates.
Available services include:
Counseling services provides services and outreach focused on supporting student mental health and well-being. Confidential sessions and crisis intervention appointments are available to students free of charge. We provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for students to explore life challenges and mental health concerns.
Students access Counseling for a variety of reasons, including:
Relationship issues, feeling sad or irritable, anxiety, adjusting to college, eating or body image concerns, grief, trauma, exploring identities, and more.
Appointments can be scheduled by calling during office hours, email counseling@butlercc.edu, or walk-in. Family, friends, or staff can refer students to counseling by giving students our contact information or by calling us and making a referral.
Urgent/Crisis Support Resources:
If you are in imminent danger and cannot keep yourself or others safe, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
Counseling services provide crisis intervention same-day or next-day appointments to students with urgent needs. Crisis appointments are available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during college operating hours.

Help is Available 24/7
Butler Mental Health Screening
Take an anonymous screening to determine if you or someone you care about should connect with a mental health professional.
Students can use brief counseling if they want to consult with a therapist about a specific concern or question, need brief advice, or need recommendations for mental health treatment.
Butler offers QPR 1-Hour training to our campus community. Any student, staff, department, or group can request this free training.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) will train you how to recognize and respond to warning signs of a suicide crisis. You will learn how to initiate supportive conversations and assist a person to get the help they need.

Butler's campus victim advocate is available to the campus community during the fall and spring semesters.
Free and confidential services are provided to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking and human trafficking. Services are available to students, faculty, and staff.

Our Mission
Counseling services helps to promote student success by providing mental health services and outreach education which fosters positive well-being and healthy psychological development.
Confidentiality
Counseling staff follow state and federal confidentiality laws and adhere to professional ethical standards. Exceptions to confidentiality include: an imminent, life-threatening danger to self or to someone else; suspected child or elder abuse; or a court order for release of patient information.
If College Health Services is collaborating in your care, we may communicate with them when relevant information is necessary for coordination of treatment.
Your counseling file is always kept separate from your academic records.

Butler’s CARE Team will receive information of concern for students, assess that information, research further information (if necessary), decide on an action plan, and address/respond to concerning behavior. Concerning behaviors, which do not constitute an emergency, may be referred for discussion at the CARE Team’s regularly, scheduled meeting.
