Student Organizations

Student Life at Butler strives to enhance student opportunities during their college experience through activities and programs that facilitate student engagement and life-long learning.  A great way to make the most of your college experience is to get involved in a student organization.

    Allied with Pride

Allied with Pride provides a safe and respectful environment to educate and raise awareness and provide opportunities to share experiences, concerns, and ideas with other members regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and allied students, faculty and staff.

Do not hide, show your pride!

    What:

Allied with Pride is more than just a safe place, it is a community for people to come together and feel comfortable being who they are. We are focused on a community and group feeling to allow people to feel like they have a space to be themselves.

    When & Where:

We meet every Wednesday at 2:30pm alternating between each campus.

Our first meeting for 2022 will be in Andover on February 9th in the Kanza room. Additional information about future meetings, locations and themes will be available in this calendar document which is updated regularly, you can also contact us below.

    Who:

We encourage confused or uncomfortable people to attend with a desire to learn more about the topic and help you find yourself or be an ally. We welcome ALL people; those who are happy with their identity, people who are less happy with their identity, straight allies and anyone who wishes to get more comfortable with the topic and be part of our community.

    How:

Allied with Pride operates as a community and less of a place to hear yet another lecture. From listening to music that you identify with to open and free discussions about uncomfortable topics and questions, we strive to make Allied with Pride a less structured, freer, and more open group that lets everyone be who they want to be.

    Why:

Kansas has a lot of work to do to show people that we are an inclusive place to be, by having groups like Allied with Pride we aim to show people that there is far more acceptance than intolerance in Kansas and at Butler Community College. By providing this community we hope we can help people feel more comfortable being who they are and not hide their true selves.

    Livestock Judging Team

Butler Community College has fielded a premier junior college livestock judging program for more than 20 years. The livestock judging program offers you an intensive learning process that includes livestock selection and its application to the industry. While competition is important to your learning process as a judging team member, it is not the only component of your training. Many hours are spent evaluating stock at several of the leading operations in Kansas and across the nation. Because of your exposure to the best of livestock judging, your career is propelled to new heights as you meet industry leaders.

Butler’s Judging Team won back-to-back at nationals during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 school year. Five of the 15 All-Americans during the 2016/17 year came from Butler. During the 2017/18 competition season, Butler placed three of the 15 All-Americans. Butler also won Top Coach two years in a row. This winning team heralds more than 60 champion or reserve-champion finishes at national competitions. In addition, Butler has fielded 51 All-Americans— more than any other junior college program. This winning tradition is the result of a dedication to hard work and a commitment to excellence.

While there have been many accomplishments at a variety of contests, there is more to the program than just winning contests. Butler strives to instill the value of academics. During the past five years, over 40 Butler Judging students have maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.7. That being said, Butler stands unparalleled in generating Academic All Americans; a feat achieved by individuals with a work ethic dedicated toward competitive judging skills backed by a pronounced GPA.
