Theatre

It’s a "learn by doing" environment inside the Butler Theatre program.

You actively learn how to elevate your craft from side hobby to serious business. Whether you major in Theatre Performance or Technical Theatre, you'll develop a vast array of theatrical skills that every great production needs.

This is your cue. It's time to leave your seat and hit the stage.

Get Started!

From the Page to the Stage

Every year, our theatre department produces four mainstage productions and four student-led projects each year. No matter what the genre or style, you can trust your director, cast and crew to help you wow the audience.

Scholarship Auditions

You've got talent to spare. We've got scholarships to give away. Either attend one of our audition days or schedule an individual audition to potentially earn a scholarship for tuition and books. You don't even have to major in theatre! Register for an audition here.

What You Can Do with a Theatre Degree

As a Grizzly graduate, you can continue your theatre education at a four-year university or get started on a rewarding career. In addition to theatre work, a degree from Butler can also help you find a job in sales, marketing or communications. Common theatre industry jobs include:

  • Actor/Writer
  • Choreographer
  • Director/Producer
  • Stage Manager
  • Designer (makeup, set, costume, hair, etc.)
