Theatre Students to Present “Marian or the True Tale of Robin Hood”

Butler Community College theatre students will present an adaptation of the legend of Robin Hood, Marian or the True Tale of Robin Hood by Adam Szymkowicz on September 25-27. This comedic play showcases Maid Marian secretly in disguise as Robin Hood.  

The performance is rooted in identity, mistakes and exploring oneself. Audiences can expect adventures, clever disguises and a unique retelling of Robin Hood. Technical and performance students have worked on the performance for weeks, building the stage and fine-tuning their respective crafts.

“They are very hardworking,” new faculty April Thomson said about Technical Theatre students. “It has been exciting for me to work in a new space with talented students. They have a lot of creative energy and dove headfirst into the process.”

The production runs 85–90-minutes with no intermission. Mature audiences (age 16+) recommended. The show is directed by retired Butler Theatre Department Chair Bob Peterson and designed by Technical Theatre Director/Manager Caden Runnalls.

“The play is about being authentic to who you are and is timely for this time,” Peterson said.
