To receive financial aid, you first need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This includes Federal Student Aid such as grants, work-study employment and student loans.
Note: Be sure to identify Butler Community College on your application using our Federal School Code: 001906.
If you want to apply online, you (and your parents if required) will need an FSA ID. This is your electronic signature on the FAFSA. The process is quicker if you get this before filing the electronic FAFSA. Do not share your FSA ID with anyone.
The FAFSA is available October 1 for the upcoming year. Applications should be completed well in advance of each semester's registration. This allows aid to be offered prior to the start of the term. Aid is offered for the full aid year, excluding summer, and is based on full-time enrollment (12 credit hours).
In addition to filling out the FAFSA form, many students need to provide documentation before aid can be offered. It can take 3 to 4 weeks before an aid offer will be made, once all requirements have been submitted. It is important to complete your financial aid file as early as possible.
Students can view outstanding financial aid requirements from their MyButlerCC account by selecting the green 'Financial Aid' tile. Students with a 'Student Forms (Verify My FAFSA)' requirement have electronic forms to complete. Follow the instructions for creating an account and submitting the required forms through 'Student Forms'.
Some forms are not available in electronic format. Students will click on the form name from their requirements in MyButlercCC account and a PDF will display. Students will complete the PDF and follow the instructions below for submitting paperwork. All posted documents received in our office by 3:00 p.m. will post the same day as received. Otherwise, the posting date will be the following business day. Butler processes file completion in date order according to the last document 'receive date' that was accurately completed.
Required transcripts must be official and mailed directly from your school to the Registrar's Office or from your State Department of Education for GEDs. Do not fax transcripts. If you graduated from an out-of-country high school, you will need your transcript evaluated by one of Butler’s acceptable evaluation agencies.
You have three options for sending signed documents.
