Admissions to Nursing

Traditional Cohort

Butler’s nursing program uses a selective admission process for all nursing applicants. Once a prospective nursing applicant has applied to Butler Community College and is accepted as an official Butler student, the student can apply to the Nursing Program as either a traditional or advanced standing nursing student. Butler’s Nursing program admits students to the El Dorado campus every semester and to the Winfield campus every fall semester as part of the traditional ADN program.

To be qualified for acceptance to the traditional ADN program, students must meet the following pre-requisites:

  • English Comp 1 with a C or higher
  • General Psychology with a C or higher
  • Anatomy and Physiology with a C or higher
  • College Algebra (or its equivalent) with a C or higher
  • Complete TEAS test with a composite score greater than or equal to national benchmark

Advanced Standing Cohort

LPNs who are seeking to advance their degree and become a Registered Nurse, can apply for Butler’s Advanced Standing program. Butler admits students to this transition cohort every semester and upon completion of a semester of transition courses, students will join the traditional cohort to complete the last year of the ADN program.
